Achilles Tendinopathy

What is it?

Achilles Tendinopathy is pain the large tendon that runs along the back of the ankle. This tendon joins the calf muscle to the heel bone. Pain might develop gradually and the area might also feel stiff and tight. Early on you might find pain goes away with a hot shower or once you have warmed up for an activity.

 

Some things that may lead to Achilles Tendinopathy are:

  • Recent injuries
  • Repeated foot pronation (feet turning in) when walking or running
  • Being overweight
  • Reduced Flexibility
  • Overuse
  • Reduced muscle endurance

What is it?

Bursitis is inflammation in the back of the heel. You might feel sharp pain over the back of the heel. The back of the heel might also look swollen.

 

Some things that may lead to Bursitis are:

  • Wearing shoes that are too tight
  • Tight calf muscles
  • Abnormal ways of walking
